What motivated you to start a hair care business?
I was always in the mirror doing my hair growing up. I started doing my own hair at the age of eight and my younger sister’s hair as well. I loved it, but it was difficult finding products that worked well for our hair types and textures.
My love for entrepreneurship was discovered after my dad bought me an ice cream truck. However, I knew I didn’t want to run that business for the rest of my life. At one point, I believed that I wanted to go to cosmetology school because I thought that was the next step for me.
One day, I searched the internet to find more info. on hair care, which opened in an enormous window of YouTube videos, posts, comments, and tutorials. I learned so much about hair and how to care for it and found a huge gap in the natural hair community. The need for natural, non-toxic, hydrating/moisturizing hair products.
A lot of products today are just about the style, but I wanted to address the real needs.
I decided to mesh the two (entrepreneurship and haircare) and it lead me to the idea of creating Luxe Locks- Long & Luscious Curls.
To what do you attribute your growing success?
I attribute my success to my supportive family who encourages me, let’s me use them as my guinea pigs, and helps promote my brand in any way they can. I also attribute my success to the technology we have today. Without social media, it would be extremely difficult to spread the word.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
In five years, I see Luxe Locks Curls products sold all over the world. I truly believe my products are amazing and I want to share this greatness with everyone!
